Η μορφή του ξένου, του βαρβάρου, του "άλλου", στο θέατρο του Ευριπίδη

Abstract

Στόχος της παρούσας εργασίας είναι να εξεταστεί η θέση του ξένου, του «άλλου» στα έργα του Ευριπίδη. Θα οριστεί το βάρβαρο, θα ερευνηθεί η έννοια της ταυτότητας και της ετερότητας και θα διευκρινιστεί εάν η αναπαράσταση του ξένου στις τραγωδίες συγχέεται με τις πεποιθήσεις της εποχής του Ευριπίδη. Μέσα από τη δραματουργία είναι δυνατό να διακρίνει κανείς τις διάφορες εκφάνσεις της ανθρώπινης δραστηριότητας και φύσης. Ακόμα, μέσα από τις τραγωδίες θα αναζητηθούν γεωγραφικές λεπτομέρειες, γλωσσικά και εμφανισιακά χαρακτηριστικά, κουστούμια, σκηνικά αντικείμενα, ήθη και συνήθειες του βάρβαρου. Επιπλέον, θα διερευνηθεί εάν ο Ευριπίδης χρησιμοποιεί μια γενικευμένη φόρμουλα για οτιδήποτε ξένο ή εάν δίνει στο «άλλο» χαρακτηριστικά ενός έθνους. Θα διαπιστωθεί εάν υπάρχει ζήτημα υπεροχής των Ελλήνων έναντι των βαρβάρων μέσα από τη δραματουργία του Ευριπίδη και αν το ξένο εξισώνεται με τους σκλάβους ή τις γυναίκες. Σε αυτήν την έρευνα της κατανόησης του βάρβαρου στην κλασική Αθήνα, έχουν επιλεχθεί τα έργα του Ευριπίδη, καθώς είναι ο ποιητής που κάνει χρήση της έννοιας ή της καθαυτού λέξεως βάρβαρος 10 φορές συχνότερα του Σοφοκλή και 6 φορές συχνότερα του Αισχύλου.

Summary in English: The aim of this paper is to examine the position of the foreigner, the "other" in the tragedies of Euripides. The barbaric will be defined, the concept of identity and otherness will be examined and it will be clarified whether the representation of the foreigner in the tragedies is confused with the beliefs of Euripides's time. Through drama it is possible to distinguish the various manifestations of human activity and nature. Also, through the tragedies, we will try to find geographical details, linguistic and visual characteristics, costumes, stage objects, manners and habits of the barbarian. In addition, it will be investigated whether Euripides uses a generalized formula for anything foreign or whether it gives to the "other" characteristics of a nation. It will be ascertained whether there is a question of the supremacy of the Greeks over the barbarians through the drama of Euripides and whether the foreign is equated with slaves or women. In this study of the understanding of the barbarian in classical Athens, the tragedies of Euripides have been selected, as he is the poet who uses the concept or the word barbaric 10 times more often than Sophocles and 6 times more often than Aeschylus.
