Διαφιλονικούμενη Chueca: gentrification και κοινωνικά κινήματα στη Μαδρίτη

Abstract

Η εργασία αυτή ασχολείται με το gentrification, το gaytrification και τις κοινωνικές αντιστάσεις - αγώνες στην πόλη της Μαδρίτης εστιάζοντας ιδιαίτερα στις περιοχές Chueca, Malasaña και Lavapiés. Στόχος της εργασίας είναι να αποκαλύψει τη σχέση που έχουν τα παραπάνω φαινόμενα μεταξύ τους. Η μεθοδολογία που ακολουθήθηκε είναι συμμετοχική παρατήρηση και βιβλιογραφική έρευνα κατά τη διάρκεια ενός χρόνου. Στην πόλη της Μαδρίτης παρατηρείται ότι υπάρχει πολυμορφία στο gentrification και ιδιαίτερα στην περιοχή της Chueca. Μορφές του αποτελούν το touristification, το εμπορικό gentrification (mercados), καθώς και το gaytrification, στο οποίο και θα εστιάσει η έρευνα. Οι αστικές αλλαγές στις γειτονιές των ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ μελετώνται σε συνδυασμό με το ρόλο που έχουν τα άτομα αυτά στις γενικότερες διαδικασίες του gentrification. Η Chueca, μετά τη δικτατορία εξελίχθηκε σε έναν τόπο, όπου η διαπολιτισμικότητα δημιουργεί ένα περιβάλλον όπου υπάρχει αποδοχή των διαφορετικών μειονοτήτων, αναπτύσσοντας τελικά μία κοινότητα με τη δική της ξεχωριστή ταυτότητα. Παράλληλα, τα κοινωνικά κινήματα καθόρισαν σημαντικά την εξέλιξη του gentrification στην πόλη. Το κίνημα La Movida Madrileña σηματοδότησε την ανάκαμψη της χώρας από μία αδύναμη οικονομία σε μία νέα εποχή ελευθερίας. Ξεκινώντας στη Μαδρίτη, γρήγορα εξαπλώθηκε και σε άλλες πόλεις μέσα από τις διάφορες μορφές τέχνης. Από την άλλη, το κίνημα 15-Μ ενάντια στις αυστηρές πολιτικές λιτότητας, ενέπνευσε κι άλλα κινήματα, όπως το Οccupy με τις καταλήψεις του χώρου, ενώ επεκτάθηκε εκτός από την Ισπανία και στον υπόλοιπο κόσμο.

This paper deals with gentrification, gaytrification and social resistances - struggles in the city of Madrid focusing especially on the areas of Chueca, Malasaña and Lavapiés. The aim of the work is to reveal the relationship between the above phenomena. The methodology followed is participatory observation and bibliographic research and its duration was one year. In the city of Madrid, it is observed that there is diversity in gentrification and especially in the area of Chueca. Its forms are touristification, commercial gentrification (mercados), as well as gaytrification, on which the research will focus. The urban changes in LGBTQI+ neighborhoods are studied in conjunction with the role that these individuals have in the general processes of gentrification. Chueca, after the dictatorship developed into a place where interculturality creates an environment where there is acceptance of different minorities, eventually developing a community with its own distinct identity. At the same time, social movements significantly determined the evolution of gentrification in the city. The La Movida Madrileña movement marked the country's recovery from a weak economy into a new era of freedom. Starting in Madrid, it quickly spread to other cities through the various art forms. On the other hand, the 15-M movement against strict austerity policies inspired other movements, such as Occupy with the occupations of the space, while it expanded beyond Spain and to the rest of the world.
