The case study of the New Greek immigration in Hamburg's Greek ethnic economy

Abstract

Οι νέοι Έλληνες της Γερμανικής πόλης Αμβούργου και οι λόγοι αποδημίας από την Ελλάδα. Η πορεία προς μια Ευρωπαϊκή πολιτική μετανάστευσης και το υπάρχων μεταναστευτικό καθεστώς της Γερμανίας. Ερμηνεία των ερευνητικών αποτελεσμάτων με τη θεωρία του κριτικού ρεαλισμού.

The thesis deals with the European migratory regime and with the mobility, too. Emphasis is given to the New Greek influx in Hamburg of Germany which is a case study. The sampling frame consists of ten people where the research was conducted via personal interviews and questionnaires. The interpretation of the results is carried out via the critical realism. Which are the reasons of the New Greek emigration? Why did they choose Hamburg? How does the gender influence the decision for migration? Are there any restrictions which have to be faced by the immigrants in Hamburg? are some of the investigatory questions this thesis aspires to answer.
